Slide Resources

Pre-Class Notes

This pdf file provides a scaffold on which students can take notes as you instruct with the teaching slides. Because the slides in this file have blanks in strategic places, you have the opportunity to ask the students many questions during class.

Handout

This pdf file contains a handout to distribute or post for students after the class or workshop. The notes pages contain additional information and references to pages within The Craft of Scientific Presentations.

Classroom-Flip Slides                              Delivery Exercises

Picture
Although these slides are not exactly for a flipped classroom, they are to be given to students so that the students can present or lead a discussion. Before presenting in class, the student should view the notes page(s) of the slide(s) that he or she is to present, read the corresponding information in The Craft of Scientific Presentations, and practice.

The delivery exercises above are to help students improve their presentation delivery. Several exercises focus on helping students fashion sentences on the spot after planning and practice, while other exercises address situations in which engineers or scientists have to improvise.
